Tattletales, Recessions and Piano Jazz

Good morning to all the American readers and a good afternoon to our international folks — here we are with the first installment of The Scroll.

The format below will be polished as we move forward so all feedback is appreciated.

Something to read:

We all can think back to grade school and remember the class tattletale, or even the class troublemaker.

Each year you had one of each. The nerd. The one who never spoke.

And I stumbled upon an article that describes you, me, and that nerd from second grade. Author Paul Graham believes we all fit into one of these four quadrants based on the degree and aggressiveness of our conformism:

  1. Aggressively conventional-minded

  2. Passively conventional-minded

  3. Passively independent-minded

  4. Aggressively independent-minded.

We’ve all seen the four types in action — which one are you?

Something to watch:

The headline may be a surprise to some or old news to others.

But Ray Dalio has a skill to see in the future by looking to the past.

A song to listen to:

A mellow meander through some laidback early 70’s souljazz vibes.

A quote to think about:

“We can't retract the decisions we've made, we can only affect the decisions we're going to make from here.” Jamie Foxx
