A Story From The Editor

The best ideas come at the most random times.

I came across a problem one Wednesday night back around early 2021.

“Problem” may not be the appropriate word, but I became tired of bending pages in my books or missing my place as I read.

I’ve used credit cards, old mail envelopes, pens, and anything else within arms reach of my desk.

But at the wee hours of this very Wednesday night, I thought to make my own bookmarks to scratch my own itch.

This was the finished product:

The order minimum was 40 — which resulted in me giving away 35 of them to friends of mine who were early Modern Analects supporters.

This ignited more attention than expected — I began getting dozens of messages asking if they could buy one.

From Spain, France, to Hawaii and down to Texas — there were folks who wanted to buy an Analects bookmark.

Marketing 101 will tell you to listen to your audience.

And that’s exactly what I did.
