Spending without regrets

"It's never about how much money you make, it's how you spend it."

The quote above is something my father (a Turkish immigrant) says on a regular basis.

He has a point — about one third of Americans making $250k+ a year live paycheck to paycheck.

And while we all would like to avoid the perils of financial strain, we gotta still live a little.

We're social creatures. We need to enjoy the fruits of our labor — so how can we do that without hating ourselves for having a good time?

At least 90% of personal finance blogs are dry and filled with regurgitated jargon, but I've found Nick Maggiulli's content to be the opposite.

So before you check your bank statement later, rewire your financial thinking.

Something to Watch:

Think of your brain like your phone battery.

And every decision you make throughout the day takes away 2-3%.

What am I gonna wear today? What am I making for breakfast?

Should I switch jobs? Can I make it to both parties tonight?

All of these questions can and will eat at your mental battery.

I taught myself (after years of this problem) to reduce the amount of decisions by operating in systems.

Wearing the same color schemes (blue, black, white, grey), eating the same breakfast/lunch, and saying no to specific asks and events no matter what.
