Punch back

“Racism in America us like dust in the air. It seems invisible — even if you’re choking on it — until you let the sun in. Then you see its everywhere.”

Asking nicely will only get you so far.

They “nicely” asked the racist kid in my 4th grade class to not utter racist comments.

But he continued.

We nicely asked the judicial system to hold policemen accountable.

But they continued.

There comes a time where in order to see the necessary change, you must punch back..

..and punch back hard.

I’m sorry Walter for beating you up on the playground… but you deserved it.

..and to the system that has failed us time and time again — you deserve it too.
