Pragmatic pessimism — an mindset that’s been the foundation of my well-being for as long as I can remember.

We think of Ebenezer Scrooge when we think of pessimism.

Pessimism is a condition, a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen.

Pragmatic pessimism is the mental preparation for life to be derailed.

This is not negative — but realistic.
