Never Satisfied

“The most important trick to be happy is to realize that happiness is a skill that you develop and a choice that you make. You choose to be happy, and then you work at it.”

“Burak am I depressed?” — I was asked this during a recent talk with a friend.

When asked loaded questions such as this I tend to reverse engineer.

With my response being “What makes you think you’re depressed?”

And through the bevy of reasons and answers he provided, his “depression” stemmed from an abundance of desire.**

Desire being the strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.

That feeling of I wish I looked like her.

Or why’s my salary not like his?

These all being toxic thoughts that block happiness from ever entering your conscience.

Happiness is a choice — a choice to embrace the present moment and the reality of what is, and the way things are.

Happiness is present when desire isn’t, both cannot be present together.

What you want later is a distraction from what’s already in front of you.

Focus on what’s in front of you.
