Your Lizard Brain

Overcoming fear.

"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek."

Joseph Campbell

You want to improve the relationship with your father yet you never reach out.

You want to be a better writer but you’re afraid of publishing.

You want to lose weight but still eat like shit.

What makes change so difficult to start?

It’s human nature, we can blame it on our lizard brain.

The limbic system (aka the “lizard brain”) is the part of your brain that’s responsible for the primitive urges we’re born with [fornication, fight, feeding, fear.]

Your lizard brain told you to skip the workout, to not email the prospect, to turn on Hulu and forget about the change you seek to make.

The voice in the back of our head is what we’re fighting.
