Something to Read: 5 Places Where People Live the Longest

Quiz question: What do Okinawa (Japan), Nicoya (Costa Rica), Loma Linda (USA), Ikaria (Greece), and Sardinia (Italy) all have in common?

Answer: They’re considered Blue Zones

Blue Zone — a non-scientific term that’s given to geographic regions that are home to some of the world’s oldest people.

These areas all feature a population that have low rates of chronic disease and live longer than anywhere else in the world.

What’s considered chronic disease you may ask?

Many experts lean on a term that pairs the common causes of mortality as the four horsemen of chronic disease and these are:

  1. Metabolic dysregulation

  2. Cardiovascular disease

  3. Cancer

  4. Neurodegeneration

Now the average life expectancy across the globe hovers a little over 70 years old, while the average age in these Blue Zones have people easily crossing 90 years.

So what is it? How does this happen?

And what can we do to live that long?

Benefits of Sauna Use | Peter Attia

Have you ever wondered why many commercial gyms offer up a hot sweaty wood box?

Like how can sitting in a hot room for 20 minutes be that beneficial to your overall health??

One of my favorite MDs, Dr. Peter Attia, explains why he changed his mind on the importance of regular sauna use.

Incase you’re too lazy to watch: All you need is four [20 minute] sessions per week at around ~80°C (175°F).
