“Instead ask yourself: how much of what you know about business is shaped by mistaken reactions to past mistakes? The most contrarian thing of all is not to oppose the crowd but to think for yourself.”

Peter Thiel

Lets take the first part of Peter’s quote a step further:

How much of what you know about life is shaped by mistaken reactions to past mistakes?

How did you react to your past relationship?

What followed after you didn’t get the job?

Did your mistakes progress or regress you?

But now consider the following sentence being more important than the first.

Never forget that friends and critics alike will do their job to instill doubt in you.

Whether it’s out of jealousy or “love” — it’s an inevitable situation.

A situation we face in areas far outside of the business world.

Unbiased self-thought has morphed from human nature into an acquired skill.

When there are millions of inputs, tweets, posts, likes, comments…

..and only one brain in between your two ears, it becomes hard to even analyze, let alone receive the amount of information we ingest daily.

This quote was an excerpt from Peter’s book Zero To One — a must read for anyone in the process of perfecting their interpersonal skills.

Peter is a fascinating man — if you’ve ever used Paypal, you can thank him for creating it.

He’s a libertarian and openly part of the gay community. Thiel endorsed Trump in 2016 and was ousted out of the San Fran bay area for these beliefs.

Regardless of your political identity you must respect someone who sounds (to most) like an oxymoron. How can he support him? How can he be gay and have conservative views?

I cant answer these questions but it shows a lot about his character whether you like him or not.
