Something to Read: Four Must Read Books & My Takeaways
I had a firm belief books were useless for the first twenty years of my life.
And at twenty-five now, that statement still holds true to a degree.
No change occurs with non-fiction books until you apply what’s in between the pages.
It’s the application that sparks change.
The age old question “What book I should read?” is something I still answer on a regular basis.
And as vague as that question is, I thought to highlight four in particular and what makes them so great.
The Navalmanack: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness
The Navalmanack isn’t a Rich Dad Poor Dad read, nor a book on said-philosophy per se.
But a collection of one man’s most insightful interviews, tweets, and poignant reflections.
He goes by Naval Ravikant: an investor in many companies you know and use and a man with one of the most unique minds I’ve come across.
They say it’s good to learn from your mistakes and even better to learn from other’s mistakes.
But the true catalyst comes from learning from other’s successes.

Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers
To put this simple — this is a Navalmanack on steriods.
I bought this one from my university’s bookstore for $35 and it’s by far the best under $50 purchase I’ve made in my life so far.
It crosses the 700 page mark and isn’t meant to be read A to Z, but to be skimmed and picked at like a family sized bag of chips.
ToT is a compilation of over 200 interviews from celebs like Schwarzenegger to groundbreaking authors and black-market biochemists.
Out of any book I’ve read… this is number one.

Four Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich
FHWW comes from same man who wrote Tools of Titans (Tim Ferriss)
This book was born after the Tim recovered from a bad case of what’s called burnout in the midst of launching [then selling] his own company.
Don’t let the title fool you since not many of us are entrepreneurs, nor have the means to work only four hours per week.
But if you have productivity issues, experience burnout, or want better work-life balance — this is where to start.

Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living
Individuals like American presidents, authors, CEOs, and celebrities have all embraced wisdom of the ancient Stoics.
This English translated phony-baloney has loads of real world application that’ll rewire how you navigate through daily life.
We can agree wisdom isn’t created in a classroom or on Twitter, but it can be developed by this devotional of Stoic insights and quotes.
If you have trouble sticking to reading a book consistently, start with Daily Stoic.
All it takes is a couple minutes a day.

Something to Watch:
Everyone Can Be Rich | Naval Ravikant
One of my favorite POVs of Naval is his ideas on wealth creation.
He doesn’t bash socialists or rave on capitalism, but offers up the idea that you and me both can be wealthy with not much extra effort.

A Quote to Think About:
“You could try to pound your head against the wall and think of original ideas or you can cheat by reading them in books.”
