He Had Everything

"A fool dreams of wealth; a wise man, of happiness."

Turkish proverb

November 27, 2020 was a distressing day in the world as we lost Tony Hsieh — an e-commerce trailblazer and renowned player in the venture capital world.

Tony amassed a fortune of over $800 million dollars at the end of his influence, leaving Zappos and his book Delivering Happiness as two examples of his legacy.

The world is still left puzzled about Tony’s apparent history of drug and alcohol abuse, leaving many questions unanswered.

Tony had over two decades of entrepreneurial genius under his belt with a future of so much more.

We can agree that speculating about our future is fun — what car we want, how big a house, number of kids, our salary level.

All these things go into what we dream of — it’s part of the reason why we work so hard today.

And time and time again we see examples of popular figures passing on having lots of negative energy deeply rooted in them.

What makes someone with that type of wealth and influence go that direction?

They did say “He had everything.”

But happiness has no tax bracket, nor can you buy it.

Happiness has to be developed, it has to be maintained.

And as you check on yourself daily please check on your peers around you.

You’ll never know who will part ways with us tomorrow.
