Something to Read: The Three Levers by Peter Attia

Nutrition has morphed into such a convoluted subject where the common person can’t separate good from bad anymore.

And mainstream diets have worked for few, but not for most.

But this simple framework coined by Dr. Peter Attia takes a complex topic and made it shockingly simple to apply.

Nutrition is constantly evolving as well as Peter’s Three Levers — a framework based on modifying three parameters or “pulling 3 levers” in various combinations.

These Three Levers are:

  1. Caloric restriction: Restrict how much you eat.

  2. Dietary restriction: Restrict what you eat.

  3. Time restriction: Restrict when you eat.

Goal: Always pull one and often two, occasionally pull three. Never pull none.

For example: Pulling time (eat from 12pm - 8pm) and pulling dietary (ex: cutting out processed foods) would indirectly pull the caloric lever due to the constraints you’ve made from the first two.

What would I do? The dietary lever is pulled almost always.

The time lever is the often pulled on weekdays.

Caloric is one I rarely pull.
