Dirty Marketing

Fast from society.

“The first step in crafting the life you want is to get rid of everything you don't.”

Joshua Becker

Demographics tell them what you like while psychographics tell them how you think.

Products and ideas are solicited to us hundreds of times a day leaving us obese in mind and body.

And cultural trends are sparked by this type of marketing — hey let me do this because everybody else is doing it.

Companies thrive off this. They love to get you in the new shit because they’ll repeat the process the following year.

Why is owning a Samsung phone often socially unacceptable?

Why can’t you practice sobriety without being questioned?

Why is it weird if you don’t use Instagram?

Note from the editor:

A mantra of mine I’ve came to share is to add value to your life, subtract.

And I’ve been able to mold my lifestyle around those seven words.

To give more clarity to the quote above (and this idea) I’ll share some personal ones:

  • Haven’t used a microwave in over three years

  • Rarely eat seafood (find out why)

  • Never drink bottled water (use this instead)

  • Don’t use Snapchat

  • Don’t celebrate most holidays

  • Refrain from everything pop-culture

It’s tough to say no these days, but train that muscle.

And thank yourself later.
