Enter in the Negroni
The purpose of these newsletters is to curate quality information and deliver it in a fashion that keeps you wanting more.
I’m still finding footing with the new construct of the Monday Scroll and since I’m the sole writer and make the rules.
So today I chose to write about a sweet red drink I’ve became obsessed with as of late.
Lets have at it.
Something to Read: The origin story of the Negroni
Maybe it’s the bright red color within the glass.
Or the silky taste of the gin mixing with the bitters and vermouth.
I’ve now became such a fan of the this cocktail, I now own a book about it.
Here’s the first paragraph of the preface:
A guy walks into a bar. A Florentine bar, actually. He takes a seat and orders and Americano, a straightforward drink with a nice balance of bitter and sweet, served over ice.
But this just isn’t any guy. He happens to be a well traveled Italian count who, after spending some time in Holland as well as England, has developed his taste for gin. So, as the barman makes his drink, he tells him to lose the splash of soda (the usual topper for the Americano) and replace it with gin.
The barman obliges, and in a final flourish, replaces the lemon garnish with a slice of orange. That is the basic story of the Negroni, named for the count himself.

How to Make a Negroni Cocktail Home | Pro | Expert
You’d think a drink with three main ingredients is easy to make and even easier to drink.
But the beauty of these types of cocktails is the attention to detail.
It’s the presentation — the care and thought that goes into each serving.

A Quote to Think About:
“A Negroni, like many wonderful creations, is deceptively simple. When it’s done absolutely right — when you have that huge ice cube, the fresh orange peel, and that delicate balance of flavors of the right components in a sturdy glass — its a drink that’s not only delicious but seems made to carry you through great conversations and memories.”
