Back on Track

“A champion doesn't become a champion in the ring, he's merely recognized in the ring. His ‘becoming’ happens during his daily routine.”

Joe Louis

About three weeks ago I was hit hard with symptoms that were similar to that one virus that’s been in the news.

I never was officially tested, but I stuck through a miserable couple days and did my two weeks of isolation.

In this time I either ate nothing or processed garbage. I watched more TV in two weeks than I have in the past six months. My sleep schedule became upside down and I’m still recouping.

But getting off track happens even to the most dedicated.

What counts is the process that gets you back on track.

The periods of stagnation where the snooze button wins and the gym becomes a memory will occur.

This is called ‘the resistance’ — the temptation of staying comfortable.

And everyday is a battle against the resistance.

The way to combat this is to construct your own system.

A system you set that blocks the resistance and it’s seductive ways.

Just ask yourself what are some daily to-do’s you can hold yourself accountable to?

What are three — maybe five things you can do daily to fight the resistance?

Think about where you’d like to be in 5 years. What does that look like?

How do you get there? What do you have to do?

Reverse the process and start with today.

This all sounds so obvious but if that was the case we wouldn’t have so many fat, broke, and unhappy people in the world.

Some personal “to-dos”:

  1. Make bed (it’s more powerful than you think)

  2. Workout

  3. read (bible & another book)

  4. Stretch before bed

  5. Keep a clean space & inbox
